For divers Gavin Moffat and Ingrid Lotze, life without adventure would have no meaning. When asked at a TEDxJohannesburg event four years ago what the one thing they wanted to do before they died was, the question spurred into motion a series of events that ultimate led to what has now become the dive of their lives. From this experience, they share lessons about overcoming fear, setting goals, co-dependence and self-reliance, planning, living in the moment and of course, the unbridled pursuit of the awesome.
Gavin Moffat and Ingrid Lotze are partners in business, marriage and parenting. When not at home or the office, you may find them testing their skills and equipment in underwater environments well beyond recreational limits. Gavin and Ingrid share learnings from a 103m dive, a depth greater than most sensible people venture to.
In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized.
